COLLECTOR OF THE FORGOTTEN THE AWAKENED DREAMER BACKGROUND A phantasmal being, Caramia exists in a dreamlike dimension manifested from humanity’s collective unconscious. Representing the human capacity for curiosity, she collects and maintains an archive of rare works of art and fiction; dream manifestations of buildings long collapsed or books never written alongside famous sculptures and first edition novels, and even the rare physical book pilfered from the material world. Caramia is equal parts collector, curator, and guide, constantly expanding and protecting her collection, and dealing with the human mystics and supernatural forces that make their way into the library looking to sample its knowledge. Many stumble briefly across it in dreams, some sleepers are invited in to add to the collection personally, and some use arcane means to browse its aisles; Caramia is the one who handles them all, and deals with any would-be thieves. She makes rare trips into the physical world, through arcane summons or expending her own power to risk manifesting; but more often she enters into dreams, striking bargains and making deals when she needs to affect the material plane. PERSONALITY Driven and curious, Caramia seeks new knowledge and stimulation constantly, both to expand the archives and for her own personal satisfaction. Easily distracted on a temporary basis, she still manages to be meticulous and thorough about whatever she’s doing in the moment; she’s immortal and endless, something she can’t afford to leave and come back to later is very rare. Highly organized, she keeps extensive records on everything in her archive and on who has visited and what they were seeking - and what price they paid for it. Knowledge always comes with a price, whether it’s something she’s acquired or something temporarily lent to a visitor. The price can be as concrete as another donation to her library, some new work of fiction or a memory of a unique experience, or as nebulous as a bit of arcane power or a future favor. ABILITIES Caramia is a being of knowledge and dreams; she can influence the memories and dreamscapes of those she visits, manipulating the sleeping world to suit her own needs. This is largely limited by what the affected dreamer in question is willing to accept as real, and is only as permanent as the dream itself. Formal bargains or exchanges can affect more permanent changes, but are largely limited to memory or perception - Caramia’s ability to influence the material world directly is nil. Within her own archive, her power is vastly increased, and she can affect the reality inside more or less as she sees fit. On the rare occasions when she is manifested physically into the material world, by her own efforts or by a third party, she has strong arcane capabilities largely tied to illusions and manipulation of perceptions, asserting a sort of dream logic temporarily into the real world.
